Black Forest CO Area Guide

Maintaining its rustic feel while providing its citizens to best in modern conveniences, the Colorado city of Black Forest is nestled within the serene pine forests of these Rocky Mountain foothills and is one of this region’s most beautiful areas. Around the turn of the century, Black Forest was an important source of railroad ties and lumber that built the Pikes Peak region. This community was originally called “The Pinery” only to later be renamed by a German immigrant who thought it closely resembled the Black Forest of his homeland. Today, Black Forest Colorado is one of this region’s most highly regarded areas of outdoor leisure, including miles of wilderness trails for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and areas abound with wildlife and horses.

Black Forest Parks & Recreation

Black Forest ParksBlack Forest is known throughout the region and the world as a place where relaxation and comfort of their citizens and visiting guests are among the highest priority. In Black Forest itself, there are a number of different outdoor escapes available to enjoy. The City of Black Forest operates and maintains an extensive park system, and the personnel of the Black Forest Parks and Recreation Department are some of the most dedicated and caring individuals to be found in this region.

Black Forest Regional Park
Black Forest Regional Park, approximately 200 acres, is the community’s premier outdoor escape. Black Forest Regional Park will now include a new visitors’ center located in Cathedral Pines. The 1,000 square foot space will serve as an interpretive and information center to both the citizens of northern El Paso County and visitors from outside the Black Forest region.

Wonderland Ranch
A 30 acre private park in Black Forest, Wonderland Ranch is just minutes northeast of Colorado Springs. They can accommodate groups of 150 to 3000 people for company picnics, family reunions, barbecues, conventions, business meetings and private parties from June through September.
